The History of Science reading group will be meeting on
Tuesday 11 February 2020
5pm - 6pm
Room B30, 25 Gordon Square, London, WC1H 0AG
We will be discussing time, the historian's relationship with time, and how history of science can inform and be informed by understandings of how we relate to human and geological time. The paper, kindly suggested by reading group member Santiago Guzmán Gámez, is:
Chakrabarty, Dipesh. ‘Anthropocene Time’. History and Theory 57, no. 1 (2018): 5–32. https://doi.org/10.1111/hith.12044
After that, the next History of Science reading group will be on a date to be confirmed - meeting provisionally scheduled for Tuesday 3 March 2020 postponed due to strike action. Check out the History of Science reading group website for information on past papers, how the reading group works, and lists of journals in the history of science. Follow us on Twitter and do in touch if you have any suggestions for this or future reading groups.
We share the Tuesday evening slot with two reading groups on Philosophy of Science and Technology and Science and Belief. The STS departmental website lists all the reading groups run by students in the department.
